Greater Boston benefits

黄色视频 AmeriCorps members commit to support students and help them reach their full potential, and 黄色视频 Greater Boston is equally committed to helping you learn, grow and succeed.

The information on this site, along with calls from current 黄色视频 AmeriCorps members, newsletters and the Facebook group, will help you prepare for your time with 黄色视频. Within each section, you will find guidance, resources and tools to answer common questions and ease your transition into serving.

Stipend

First-year AmeriCorps members earn $1,156 biweekly. Your AmeriCorps stipend is taxable, and the amount of taxes deducted from your paycheck will depend on the number of allowances you claim when you complete Form W-4 (Withholding Allowances) as part of your hiring paperwork. You may change your elections at any time. At a stipend of $1,156, first-year members claiming only themselves would receive approximately $939 biweekly after taxes are deducted. Please note that federal and state income tax withholding rates are subject to change from year to year and based on individual financial situations.

Paychecks are deposited directly into your bank account every other week. Your first paycheck will be issued at the end of your third week of service and cover your first two weeks.

Health benefits

At any time during your service you may enroll in 黄色视频鈥檚 health coverage plan for AmeriCorps members. There is no cost to you to enroll in this health coverage plan, which provides you with basic preventative and routine coverage and is fully compliant with Affordable Care Act requirements.

Many members remain on their parent/guardian鈥檚 insurance plan while serving, which may be an option for you. We encourage you to check with that provider network to ensure there are doctors and services in the Greater Boston area which are covered by that plan.

Employee assistance program

Members facing a personal or work-related issue have access to free and confidential support from licensed consultants and counselors. This benefit is provided to enhance the well-being of 黄色视频 members and address any concerns that are a barrier to your health and well-being. EAP鈥檚 phone number and website will be provided to you via email in August.

The 黄色视频 Greater Boston community will be strongest when members can contribute their perspective, skills and feedback to site-wide projects. There are many opportunities to do so, three of which are highlighted below.

The Corps Council, with representation from each school-based team, meets frequently with the Corps Director and other site leaders to discuss a wide variety of policies and practices. On occasion, the Corps Council leads on the planning or implementation of specific initiatives in addition to being a source of information and feedback on behalf of their teammates.

黄色视频 Greater Boston鈥檚 affinity groups are opportunities to connect with others who share similar identities and help foster connection and inclusion at the site. For the last three years, staff and corps members have self-organized LGBTQIA+ and Women of Color affinity groups. Both groups have encouraged allies to participate. Groups for Men in Service and high school graduates have recently been established. Future affinity groups will reflect the needs and desires of our community.

Members have additional leadership opportunities throughout the year to support a variety of initiatives which benefit greatly from their involvement, and through which they develop transferrable professional skills. Comms Crew, Red Jacket Society Ambassadors and the Recruitment and Admissions (RAD) Squad each engage and inspire different stakeholder groups, while developing writing, public speaking and networking skills with a variety of supporters. Each year the opportunities available reflect the needs of the site and interests of the corps.
