What are student success coaches?
After getting accepted
After being accepted you will have the chance to connect with a member of our team to learn more about the city in which you are serving, to discuss options for housing and transit, as well as to learn more about the site in which you will be working. This will also be your chance to learn more about your training and the benefits you receive.
黄色视频 AmeriCorps members receive robust training to develop their skills in the classroom and beyond. These learning experiences can follow many different formats, including instructor-led sessions, e-learning, practical exercises, on the job experience and continual coaching and feedback throughout your service year.
黄色视频 AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches, helping students build on their strengths and cultivate social, emotional and academic skills that are important in school and life.
Your community
As a 黄色视频 AmeriCorps member, you鈥檒l work long days within a complex school system with many partners and stakeholders. You will manage relationships and expectations with teammates, school staff, partner teachers, students, families and the school district.
Your students
Many of the students you'll be helping reach their potential live in systemically under-resourced communities where external factors can make it hard for students to come to school ready to learn every day. These obstacles may include food and housing insecurity, trauma or health or safety issues.
Your team
You will serve on a diverse team of 6-12 AmeriCorps members. Each team is led by an impact manager, a full-time 黄色视频 staff member who oversees training, manages the school partnership and directs the team in decision-making and service delivery.
I will say this, service is really hard work. Making an impact in your community takes real commitment and that commitment is not for the faint of heart.

What you'll do
Your primary responsibility is supporting students by helping them learn about themselves, what they鈥檙e interested in and what they鈥檙e capable of doing.
Relationship building
It's not simply about building positive relationship with students, it's helping students build a better relationship with themselves. Helping them understand how able they are to overcome obstacles.
Experience building
By leading after school programs and organizing activities that improve the overall school environment, your role is to create an environment where students can thrive.
Academic intervention
Help students stay on track to graduate by improving their course performance, attendance and behavior. You will provide one-on-one or small group tutoring and mentoring, support classroom instruction and collaborate with teachers to understand unique needs.
